8 Individuals and Societies: Note-taking

Note-taking: Category Style

Category Style Notes:

  • Use a source list KEY so you know which information comes from which source
  • Give each source a NUMBER and use that number whenever you note information from that source
  • Organize your notes into CATEGORIES along the way
  • Each Category is a TABLE and your notes about that category go into that table
  • ONLY write facts/evidence you will USE in your newscast
  • Remember your research question:
    • "What are the differences and similarities in response times following two disasters, and what factors contributed to these differences?"

Possible Categories:

  • Background information (facts about the disaster to provide context for the viewer)
  • Response Factors: time, technology, finances, location/geography, politics, human resources....?
